OK, so you’ve checked out a couple stores or websites to find a decoration for the top of your wedding cake but nothing is really jumping out at you. These run-of-the-mill cake toppers are just not you.

Should you just go with the fresh flowers like your wedding cake designer suggests? Well, you could, but you would be passing up a unique opportunity to put a little pizzazz into your wedding cake display, and a chance to have a little fun, perhaps.

If you go beyond the first couple websites in your google search you may find a little inspiration for a wedding cake topper that would be out of the ordinary and more of an expression of you and your spouse-to-be.  You may be on the path to create a memento that will remind you how you were feeling at this wonderful time in your life – when you look back at those photos many years from now.

Before you start your online search, jot down a few words that describe you and your partner, your wedding, honeymoon, interests, etc. For example, maybe you are both big baseball fans, your wedding had a vintage theme and you are headed to a tropical island for your honeymoon.

You could create a baseball style cake topper with a ball (real or fondant) and little pennants. Or the cake topper could be a traditional, but vintage bride and groom to match the rest of the décor at the reception.
